Left argument of Hyper nationalism in BJP regime....
The term hyper nationalism simply means Extreme nationalism, or the belief in the superiority of one's nation and of the paramount importance of advancing it.
This is particularly used by Nazi and Fascist regime before advent of Second World War. But in recent discourse of Indian polity the government has been accused by left that there are certain fringe element within ruling party which invoke such sentiments.
“Hyper-nationalism does not allow critical engagement;
it shows anything critical of ruling party as anti-national” this is the
typical left argument that has been presented by leftist, left leaning intellectuals,
writers and left parties in Indian politics. The issues like Murder of
Dabholkar, Kalburgi has been Raised at unprecedented level by the peoples who
belongs to the left school.
Just after the formation of Modi Government
India suddenly become “intolerant” and the protest of award wapsi was started
by the left leaning secular awardees but according to me returning of award is
itself a kind of intolerance. We have proper constitutional set up that
provides so many avenues to raise our decent with government policies. But
discrediting the value of award that has been given for contribution in socio-cultural
development of nation is nothing but insult of our institutions created by our
forefathers.
The opposition of the Central government on
policy on Kashmir is irrational according to me, even former minister of UPA
government meeting separatists in Kashmir, raising the issues of human rights
of terrorists and stone-pelters, , and taking pride in slaughtering a cow in
full public view. Is nothing but policy of creating rift in the society by so
called secular and progressive element of society.
We as a society needs to overlook towards
the issue of nationalism itself, yes it should not create a sense of “Us vs Them”
in nearly every case. But certain levels of national values are essential to
create bonding and fraternity within our fellow citizens.
Another kind of voice that has been raised
from the various University campuses like Jawaharlal Nehru University and a
typical sloganeering has been raised by them,” Humko chahiye aazadi” Is Indian
democratic setup do not provide freedom to them is a bigger question. Somewhere
these young brooding minds have crossed the limit of constitutional values that
are solely based on unity and sovereignty of nation. I felt that these voices are
fulfilling selfish motives of certain class political class within Indian society.
We as a
citizen of India has to introspect within ourselves and find the core moral and
ethical values that are essentially based on Indian culture and ethos, so that the
debate on issues like hyper nationalism will have logical and rational outcome.
